Renewal By Anderson Warranty

Explore the terms, provisions, and timelines provided by the Renewal By Anderson warranty on their windows and patio doors. Unfortunately, overall, the Renewal By Anderson warranty is not as strong as I would like for the average consumer. The company makes a lot of claims about how much stronger their fibrex windows vs vinyl are so I’m confused why they don’t put their money where their mouth is, so to speak).

My Take: To be sure, the RbA warranty has some nice features and provisions such as the two year labor warranty. However, overall, I feel like this warranty is less impressive than I would expect for Renewal by Anderson prices and quotes.

Renewal By Anderson Window Warranty

The basic RbA warranty details go like this. The company guarantees that the windows and patio doors are free from manufacturing defects for 20 years on the mainframe, insulated glass unit and sash. Additionally, all components, hardware and movable parts come with a 10 year term. Further, exterior color finishes also come with a 10 year warranty.

In term of labor costs, the RbA warranty offers 2 years that they will replace or repair the windows and/or doors free of charge. Please note that all warranty timelines are from the installation date. Lastly, homeowners may transfer the Renewal warranty to another owner. Also, the warranty terms, provisions, and timelines still apply to the new owner. This is a decent feature in an otherwise kind of unimpressive warranty.

Renewal vs Window World

Dane, I have bids for 23 double hung windows (most being 32” x 60” or 32” x 70”) to be installed in the sunny NC Piedmont. Love to get your take. So, our current vinyl windows are 22 years old, and in generally good shape. However, 12 panes (in the 23 total windows) have seal leakage (fogging). Then, we got another estimate to do window repair/pane replacement from Argo Glass & Windows. 12 panes replaced, certified IG, Argon glass, 20 year warranty. @ $373.00/e. ($4476.00 total). FYI, the Argo salesman, who also sells full replacement windows, was the person who suggested the repair option rather than replacement, due to the good condition of our current windows).

4000 Series Double Hung Window, (World of Windows / MI / Miter) @ $845.00/e ($19435.00 total) or Triple Pane TG2 (Argon Filled) @ $935.00/e ($21505.00 total) or - Provia Endure (Zen) @ $990.00/e (no payment(s) until the job is completed). Which windows do you prefer/suggest? Lastly, your feelings on repair rather than full replacement. If repair, then save $ for additional home improvements and just replace the panes? Thanks for your input.

Lastly, we have a bid from Renewal @$2674/e ($61,502 total). However, this was just too expensive for us to even consider (love the windows though).

Dewayne, first off, I agree with you on the RbA quote - way too expensive. So, I guess the first question is really - repair or replace. If this is your forever home, then the replace might be the best option because either way you will eventually have to do all of them. You might as well get them all done in one fell swoop for continuity and the overall "one and down" approach with this sometimes painful process. However, if this isn't your forever home, I like the idea of the repair option. Obviously, it's much less money out of your pocket and it comes with a 20 year warranty. Since your current windows are in decent shape, then you are getting decent value. Maybe in 8 years, you repair the remaining 9 and you spent, what, maybe $8500 total?

Plus, by that time you might have moved on to a new place (the return on investment of windows is not all that great to be honest unless you are talking long term). I think that's my advice for your situation. Let me know what you decide to do!
