Cost & Pricing
Anderson pricing is at the mid to upper end of the pricing structure for most of their replacement windows, while Jeld Wen offers low end vinyl windows priced extremely competitively to their Premium Atlantic aluminum clad window that is at the lower end of wood clad window cost range. Jeld Wen pricing ranges from perhaps $225 for the Builder's Vinyl fully installed to $700 for their Premium Atlantic fully installed.
Customer Service
Most companies, including Anderson and Jeld Wen, sell their windows through distributors - individuals who are authorized to sell the products in a particular city, area or region. So it's a bit unfair to ding the companies on direct customer service - although poor quality windows themselves are certainly the responsibility of the companies. In general, Anderson gets much better marks for their customer service, although Renewal By Anderson (an Anderson franchise) often gets poor marks for some of their sales tactics.
Number Of Series And Models
Jeld Wen offers more window lines than Anderson, including Builder's Vinyl, Premium Vinyl, Builder's Wood (aluminum clad), Siteline EX (aluminum clad) Custom Wood (aluminum clad) and Premium Atlantic (aluminum clad). Anderson itself offers only 4 main models, the Anderson 100, Anderson 200, Anderson 400 Window and their Anderson A Series. Anderson also own several companies that sells vinyl windows, including Silverline windows and American Craftsman - both of which offer 3 to 4 models each.
Bottom Line
Both Jeld Wen and Anderson are well known and popular window manufacturers. Anderson are certainly considered the better and more reliable producer. Jeld Wen makes a decent window that is probably more on par with Milgard or Simonton than Anderson. Check out our comparison article with Pella.
